One of the things I hear regularly from our subscribers are questions like:
- “Is it bad to sing with a cold?”
- “I’m getting over being sick—how long should I wait to sing again?”
- “I’ve got a tickle in my throat and I’m worried I might be getting sick… what can I do?”
I get it! These are very real and practical struggles year-round, but especially right now (in the Northern Hemisphere) as we enter flu season where colds and germs seem to be all around us. What can we do to care for our voice? What things should we remember?
Firstly, I want to remind you that Jesus Christ is our source of life and health, so prayer should be our first response, not our last resort. Jesus is full of compassion towards us, and He desires to heal us from ALL sickness—major or minor. I love how Matthew’s gospel records Jesus healing leprosy, paralysis, and a simple fever, all in the same chapter (ch. 8)… in fact, right after healing that fever, Jesus “healed all the sick” who came to him (Matthew 8:16). So whatever health struggle you’re facing, know that He sees it all and wants to help! He is our only true Physician—all healing comes from him, and He can deliver it to us by any means He wants… supernatural miracle, gradual healing, doctors and medicine, etc. I’m praying that this season will be a testimony of His provision of health and strength in your body and voice. 🙏
Next, I wanted to point to a few resources that will help—whether they’re new to you or maybe you need a refresher, these are some go-to resources that you’ll want to have handy when dealing with sickness.
I hope these help! What are your go-to’s when you face sickness or are recovering from it?
